American ExpressFour-digit number on the front of the card in the right hand corner above the card number. The security code is a new security feature for credit cards. All newly issued credit cards feature an additional three-digit number that appears after the card number on the back of the card. On American Express cards, the number is four digits long and appears on the front of the card. These numbers appear on the credit card and are stored in the credit card company's database. This security code can be used to verify that the customer is the true cardholder. Why do we require this? In attempt to reduce the high rate of credit card fraud, we use this extra pre-cautionary method to make sure the credit card belongs to you and only you. CVV2 is an authentication mechanism created by card companies to help reduce fraud with online transactions. It requires the card holder to have the card physically in hand in order to enter three digits found printed on the card itself. |
